Leopard Toads August 2008LEOPARD TOAD ALERT Western Leopard toads migrated to Die Oog in the 3rd week in August.
Around 70 were killed by passing cars when crossing the roads but there is increased awareness in the media
of this migration, which is encouraging for their future protection.
Western Leopard toads are highly endangered and Die Oog is one of the main breeding sites. Tadpoles have been
sighted as of mid September and the young toads will be leaving Die Oog at the end of the year. |
